You will find LOTS of mail in tonight's homework binders. Please give your child a reminder if he/she does not deliver it to you. Mixed in with all of the papers you will find a DRAFT version of our classroom contact list. Please review all of your information to make sure it is correct. If you wish to revise something, please let me know ASAP. I plan to send home a corrected, final version later this week - probably on Friday.

I would appreciate your help at home, to review the following expectations with your son/daughter. Hopefully, a little chat will go a long way. It is my hope that hearing it from both adults at home and at school will make a difference. The classroom expectations we have agreed upon are:
Our readings this week are focusing on how families work together. We are discussing the rules each family has and some of the ways children help their families. For example, some have shared that they help by cleaning up toys, making beds, putting away laundry, and/or sweeping. The children enjoy hearing who has similar jobs and are sometimes surprised at jobs other kids have in their families.
In math we are comparing numbers using <, >, and = symbols. We figured out that sometimes it is tricky, because the 'real' numbers are not always given. Sometimes the numbers are disguised in a 'code.' They may be written as a number sentence, as money, or even as measurements. At first this was causing some anxiety, but now that we know what to do to figure out the disguised number, it is under control! :)
