What a crazy day! A delay..... which caused a crazy schedule....that had to be completed by people who had interrupted sleep! There was also a sudden downpour during recess. WOWZA! We got through it!
Last week, the class voted to shop on Monday because we won't have time to shop on Halloween. What a difference in skills since the end of September! In September it took about an hour to complete shopping. Today we did it in 35 minutes! Items were priced from 25 cents to $2. Ask your child what s/he bought. Our banks are back down to zero to start November.
Tomorrow is Halloween! Children are encouraged to bring school appropriate costumes to school in a labeled bag. Please label all pieces of your child's costume! Remember, no blood, gore, or weapons - save them for trick-or-treat!
We will be eating a special snack after morning recess. After that, we will be doing some fall themed activity centers. At one center the kids will paint a pumpkin. They used sandpaper today to get their pumpkin ready! The second center will be a sewing center. The kids will sew a felt pumpkin! Finally, at the third center they will create a 'Harvest Mix' by following a recipe.
After a break for lunch, recess, and WIN time we will put on our costumes! Please join us at 1:00 for the parade down to the town common and back. I asked the kids to dress warm and to wear good walking shoes.
Wednesday is our walking field trip to the Historical Society and Whipple Free Library. Again, kids will need to dress warm and wear good walking shoes. They will also need a snack that they can carry with them on the trip.
And the excitement continues....On Thursday we have a guest speaker coming to talk with us about owls. We will learn about their special adaptations and habitats. This fits right in with our study of animals in Wonders. :)
Friday we will meet with our third grade buddies in Ms. Frarie's class and spend time with Ms. Brown.
We will be VERY BUSY this week! Hold on for the ride!
